Is There Any Normalization In SSC CGL 2017?

Dear Readers,

Is There Any Normalization In SSC CGL 2017? – Latest SSC jobs_0.1

Many people might have already faced SSC CGL Tier-I 2017 Exam and many have their exams scheduled in upcoming shifts. Lakhs and Lakhs of aspirants apply for SSC Combined Graduate Level Recruitment for a few thousand posts and SSC conducts Tier-I exam in numerous centers across the country in the time span ranging a month, where each day may have 2-3 shifts. You can clearly get an idea that not every shift’s paper’s difficulty level is going to be same. Then there comes a question in aspirants mind, do those aspirants benefit who by chance happen to appear for a relatively easier level paper in Tier-I? Will SSC do normalization to make it a fair game?

What is Normalization?

If you are worried that what is it, then keep on reading to understand it in the easiest way possible. The organization conducting recruitment drive exams must balance out the difficulty level ratio for aspirants of all shifts. In such exams where there are numerous shifts, the paper is never the same. A few aspirants may argue that the students appearing in first few shifts have a certain disadvantage over others who appear in shifts later on. And a few other aspirants may feel that the organization has raised the difficulty level of exam of few particular shifts whereas the difficulty level for all other shifts was easy-moderate. In such a scenario the organization may use normalization of marks as an effective tool to clear any dispute between the difficulty levels of papers. The organization may add a mark or two in the total score of the candidate if the paper of his shift was very difficult in comparison to other shifts or may deduct a mark or two in the reverse scenario subject to their rules, formula, and guidelines for normalization.

Is there Any Normalization in SSC CGL 2017? SSC Reply:

This year again many students are caught between the same dilemma that will their marks of Tier-I be normalized by SSC? The answer is NO.
Normalization is a common practice in Banking recruitment examination but SSC does not follow Normalization for its recruitment examinations. According to an RTI filed concerning the issue that will there be any normalization for the different level of questions at different shifts?

The reply by the concerned department clearly states that to maintain parity of difficulty level in the multiple sets of question paper, the Commission prescribes uniform guidelines regarding difficulty level. Accordingly, a particular mix of difficulty (Difficult, Easy and Average) is prescribed in respect of question sets. The Subject Experts are advised to follow the guidelines/ instructions to ensure the uniformity in the difficulty level while preparing the Question Paper Sets. Further, at present SSC does not follow normalization in any of its examination.
