West Bengal Sub-Inspector Selection Process:
Pay Scale: Pay Scale Rs. 7,100 – 37,600/- (i.e. Pay Band-3) + Grade Pay Rs. 3,900/- plus other admissible allowances.

Educational Qualification:
- The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or its equivalent.
- The applicant must be able to speak, read and write in Bengali.
Sub-Inspector/Lady Sub-Inspector of Police (Un-armed Branch) and Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed Branch):
- Preliminary Written Examination (Qualifying In Nature)
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Final Combined Competitive Examination
- Personality Test

This exam will be in Qualifying In Nature.

- Question paper will be set in two languages (English and Bengali)
- The Preliminary Written Examination will either be an OMR based examination or computer based on-line examination (CBT) depending on the number of applicants & other administrative factors.

This examination consists of three papers of conventional type of question, namely : –
